GALE is proud to announce that we have signed the Working with Cancer pledge, reaffirming our commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible environment for our employees, including those battling cancer or other illnesses.
A recent study conducted by Working With Cancer shows that 50% of us will get cancer in our lifetime, and 50% will be afraid to share this fact at work. Yet, 92% of patients believe the support they get at work positively impacts their health. These statistics are too staggering to ignore. By standing together and normalizing working with these types of illnesses, we can help combat the stigma. We are now committing to the following for those impacted by cancer:
- GALE will secure the job and salary of any GALE employee who has cancer for at least a year
- All GALE employees with cancer will get access to a range of health and wellness benefits tailored for immediate relief and long-term improvement
- All GALE employees with cancer will be supported through the return to work process with career coaching and flexibility
- All GALE employees are supported with unlimited sick time to allow for long-term recovery
- All GALE employees taking on a caregiver role for a cancer patient in their immediate family will receive more flexibility and custom support
